Hello @elisehbaer, I would like to add my welcome to Connect along with @pb50 and others. I think it might depend on how much/many chia seeds you eat. I mix a couple of teaspoons into a smoothie daily for the fiber and calcium. I think they can cause digestive issues if you eat too many. Here's more information on the topic:

First off, they are seeds. Seeds are the beginning of life.
They are high in Omega 3s. With the diets the average American consumes, they are top heavy in Omega 6s- not good.
Chia seeds are a great source of fiber.
I’ll even have “chia pudding” some days for breakfast. Nutiva puts out a good organic product. They’ll “sprout” in 20 minutes in the pot in water. I can add raisins and cinnamon or strwberries and blueberries, just as I would with oatmeal.
Its a no grain/gluten breakfast!

They work great for me now just as seeds but I guess they would also be good mixed as sprouts in a salad or a smoothie. What method have you found the easiest to grow the chia seeds into sprouts?
I don’t grow them. Sprouted also refers to popping the seeds. Let them soak in enough water where they can be swirled. In a one quart pot about 3/4 to 1 inch of water for a quarter cup-for 20 minutes.
They will make themselves into a gel. Can be cooked with oatmeal, added to smoothies, even doubled and warmed with raisins or choice of berries for a healthy breakfast.
I don’t eat ANY seeds. I have enough issues without introducing new variables 🙂

I stand chastised 🙂 I have GI issues and a vision of seeds getting stuck in me 🙂
I noticed a lot of the high protein low calorie recipes have chia seeds in the ingredient list. They must have some benefit but I don't know what!
Do you allow them to soak for at least 20 minutes previous to using or consuming? If allowed to “sprout”, they may not cause a concern.

Do you ever let yours sprout?
Allow them to sprout and you may have no issues at all.
