I haven't had any problem with that. Knock on wood! Hope others will jump in here for you.
It’s so frustrating. I’m blaming Hiprex as it’s the only change I’ve made. Thank you for responding.
I haven't had any issues at all with Hiprex. I take the methenamine mandelate form of Hiprex. I tablet 2X daily along with 500 mg of Vitamin C and one cranberry capsule. Thang God it is working so I don't have to have antibiotics.
I’m taking Methenamine as well. 1gm daily with 1000mg of vitamin C and it’s working so far. I’m just losing a ton of hair. What I’m reading is it’s common for people over 65. I’ve been taking Methenamine for 2 months now.
Do you take methenamine hippurate or the mandelate version?
I’m taking the Methenamine Hippurate. Is there a difference?
Methenamine hippurate is taken twice daily whereas the mandelate formula can be taken 4 times daily. In my case, the mandelate is easier to tolerate. They both work the same way but, I think, with less irritation. I only take the mandelate twice daily.
My urologist started me on one pill a day. And so far that is working, it does cause some irritation but it’s better than a full-blown UTI. I am going to ask her about the Mandelate and see if that would work better for me. I am wondering if the Mandelate will not cause all this hair loss.
Just a caution to those on methenamine. It can be hard on our kidneys, so get labs done on a regular basis & watch eGFR levels to make sure they are not going downward.
