I noticed a lot of the high protein low calorie recipes have chia seeds in the ingredient list. They must have some benefit but I don't know what!

First off, they are seeds. Seeds are the beginning of life.
They are high in Omega 3s. With the diets the average American consumes, they are top heavy in Omega 6s- not good.
Chia seeds are a great source of fiber.
I’ll even have “chia pudding” some days for breakfast. Nutiva puts out a good organic product. They’ll “sprout” in 20 minutes in the pot in water. I can add raisins and cinnamon or strwberries and blueberries, just as I would with oatmeal.
Its a no grain/gluten breakfast!
