Just diagnosed with colitis...given Budesonide $$$$
I am having diarrhea/constipation issues and this medicine might work for the awful feelings. How did it work for you? I can't afford the cost, so is there alternatives? I am taking plenty of supplements and some herbals. Maybe a special herbal mix might work, or a different medicine?

I have IBSD and want to know if anyone has been on Creon? It has not been good for me as it just caused more diarrhea and stomach pains.
You might get responses on that question if you start a new post in the Digestive Health Support group. This thread is about microscopic colitis and so won’t have the same audience as what you are seeking.
Good luck!
Wow - no wonder you were house-bound! That's awful!!!
That was two GI bugs - not go bugs 🙄
And it was a period worth avoiding a rerun 😁
my Husband was started on this also after taking prednisone for a period of time, The prednisone worked but due to issues with prior lymphoma physicians wanted him off prednisone. Yes the cost of this medication is so HIGH. He is also on Elequis for diagnosis in the past of pulmonary embolism. This can break us that are on fixed incomes.
It is quite an expensive drug. Luckily seems to be working for my husband on a twice a day basis. We don't have a pharmacy in our town that allows lowered prices. I think it is awful that we have to play games so to speak to get lowered prices!
Oh that’s awful. You don’t have a Walmart pharmacy or a grocery store pharmacy?
Is he on a step down ? 2 a day would be 6 mg and that’s the level I was at by week 5.
Good morning..please be aware of the side effects from the Budesonide..how much are you on? Please speak to your physician or pharmacist if you start having side effects from it. This drug caused many problems for me health wise, it is not a long term use drug. I was on a it for nine months at 9 mgs..way too much for way too long. I was on it for Ulcerative Colitis and it actually made my colitis much worse. Take Care, Kitty2
Thanks. I was only on it for 3 months, stepping down from 9mg a day to 1 then off. No need for it since.
I was under impression it was uniquely pointed at microscopic colitis. And it’s been a miracle drug for that for me. But my doc was clear there was a beginning and end to the treatment.
I'm just starting to taper off the 9 mg dose and am hoping to have the same experience you had! I, too, understood that it is best for microscopic colitis, and agree that it's a miracle drug. My GI doc says if necessary I could stay on a low dose almost indefinitely. Apparently a large percentage of us do so - perhaps 3 mg every other day or so. We're all so very different in what we need and what works to manage this disease!
