Considering elective hysterectomy

I’m about to ask my OBGYN for an elective hysterectomy. In 2017 I had an incomplete m/c with a d&e, then a few months later a tubal ligation, and ever since my periods have been twice as painful, heavier, and I have painful ovulation. I basically get maybe one week a month where I feel okay. Pain radiates to hips, thighs and lower back and is usually worse on the 3rd and 4th day of cycle.

I’ve had a few TVUS and they don’t see anything other than involuted follicles; no signs of fibroids, endometriosis, or PCOS. I'm approaching 37, one natural childbirth in 2011. Any suggestions and/or advice?

When I was in my late 30's, I had similar symptoms to you. At the age of 40 I had a hysterectomy and after the surgery I was told that my uterus was precancerous. I also had one ovary removed. The other ovary had been removed in my late 20's, as I had cysts, which had burst. I had a quick recovery and felt better than I had in years. From my experience I would go ahead with the surgery.

Thank you for this, very helpful. How was the sudden onset of menopause? Did you/do you take hormone replacements?

My sudden onset of menopause wasn't awful. I had hardly any symptoms. Having lost one ovary earlier probably lessened the symptoms. Yes, I do have to take hormone replacements. If I don't I get continual U.T.I's.
