I am hoping to begin Evenity Treatments soon. I would like to get more information from someone who has actually done this treatment. Have you had many of the side effects listed? Did the treatment increase bone density? I know this is a new treatment so a little hesitant to start but know I need to do something.
Finished November 2023 all 12 injection. Minor irritation and tiredness for a day and occasional headache. Honestly no problems at all!! DXA 13.8% gain in BMD in spine (-3.1 to -2.5) and total femur 5.4% increase in BMD (-3.0 to -2.7) and femoral neck increase BMD of 8.1% (-3.3 to -3.0). and no fractures!!
Still working on it and reluctantly taking alendronate weekly by mouth with so far just 2 episodes of GERD resolved
with minor use of antacids. I do feel lucky i’ve tolerated these drugs and know everyone is very different but this has been my experience. Best to you!!

@tkronstedt I’ve had two months of Evenity injections and will get my third at the end of this month. I had a little soreness at the injection sites but that was gone within 24 hours. I have osteoarthritis so it’s a little difficult for me to tell if I’m having any joint pain which is a more common side effect of Evenity. I think perhaps I have a little more joint pain but it doesn’t bother me all that much.
When you think about it people are going to post their side effects and fears about Evenity. They self-select and may not come to Mayo Clinic Connect to post that they have no side effects. You’ll note that a few people in this discussion have written they had very few or no side effects on Evenity and they gained significant bone density.
I figured Evenity was worth a try for me since I had a fracture last year. I sure don’t want any more fractures. My endocrinologist at Mayo Clinic has a lot of experience with osteoporosis medications including Evenity. Since that’s what he recommended for me I decided I’d follow his recommendations.
I had my 7th injections of Evenity last week. I haven’t had any reactions to it.
I thought I had posted that here before, but now cant find it.
Sometimes the organization of this site confuses me.
I completely understand your concerns. I felt the same way until I read all the comments regarding Evenity . It was the best choice for me with a t score of my spine -4.6.
Hi Kristie2
We have the same scores in the spine. I am trying to get on evenity. My doc suggested tymlos due to some jaw issues. She felt it was safer to go with tymlos. I spoke to Dr Mc Cormick of better bones and he thinks 100 percent evinity is the way to go.
How are you doing and how long have you been on it?
Best wishes to you.

I understand your concern. I felt the same way, but I will be getting my 6th injections next week. The 1st time I had to injections in my arms and they were very sore for a couple days. I have a high threshold for pain, so I was very surprised. I've had the 2nd-5th injections in my abdomen with very minimal discomfort! What a blessing! I can wear jeans, a belt right after the injections with no problem.
I have no other side effects. I can go about my day and week with all my normal activities.
My DEXA scan probably won't be scheduled until later in the summer after my 12th Evenity injections. So I'll find out then if my bone density has improved.
I am at 11 months of Evenity. I just had my annual scan and one area was worse, the other slightly better. Apparently there’s some new software that allows the doctors to evaluate whether the ‘structure’ of bone has improved (something Evenity is known for). I’m still waiting to hear about this. In the meantime, I’ll take the 12th injection and then move to Reclast. About pain with the injections - I usually get them in my arms. I don’t much feel the needles but I get some swelling and heat at the injection sites for a few days afterwards. It gradually subsides. It’s not great but not a major problem either.
