Hello, I can't believe I'm Reading your story this night. I'm 70, severe lumbar stenosis, L4,5 nerve impingement, +++pain, numbness, tingling both calves to summarize. Mobility +++compromised.
Former chaplain, palliative care if that matters. Canadian, wintering in a Florida, checked out minimally invasive spine surgery (won't mention clinic). Lengthy assessment resulting in denial for surgery; major surgery required yada yada.
Yes I'm devastated. However I just cannot seem to figure Providence into this equation. Yes, the God who never changes, changes everything. Oh and the many times I've encouraged others to stay strong, believe...all sounding like "noise" now that's it's me, the needy one. And He is seeming so far away. These beautiful Florida sunsets on the gulf...feel empty. Pain rages.
May I just ask, have you figured this out?
Katie, I am 75 and have severe spinal stenosis for many, too many years. I now have a spinal stimulator that has helped immenseily( not sure of spelling). I have had it for over two years, and I am sure that I could not function without it. I* have been told that I will know when the stimular is no longer an option. Seems spine surgery is the next step and I am praying that won't be for a long time. I also have heart problems, periphal neuropothy.
Each day, for me, starts with a new comittment, smile at the pain, keep my sense of humor and be a nice person. I take blood pressure med, fluid retention med., gabapentin 800mg +tramadol 50mg every 6 hrs for the Neuropothy. I also take herbs.
I believe I can understand unrelenting pain and I am so grateful for anything that helps reduce the pain or gives me a little relief.
As far as we tell ourselves that God will fix this or we are being punished for something, we are not listening to what Christ has said, "I am here to give you evertthing you need, now go live your life." It has been my experience that the things that happen to us is due to the world we live in. And all I can do is try to not let it take my life away. I am so very blessed to have those around me that love me, that is when I will let them in...sometimes pain robs us of who we have believed we are, so please don't give up!!! Keep faith and don't let the pain win.
I pray that you have the PEACE that passes all understanding.
PEACE & LOVE......jj (FEMALE:
@jjwest yea for your words The world is a cruel place not God He loves us and isn't the one to give us our ill,s its the world Blessings to yo keep the faith
Perhaps he does not give us our ills but he sure could make them disappear. Always annoyed me how he supposedly heals some and not others. How people beg and plead for an eight year old girls life with liver cancer...yet no response from God. People say God gives you free will not diseases. Then they turn around and give him credit for healing a loved one...yet a little girls lies suffering badly from cancer. He could heal her but chooses not to do that. Her family waits watching...their lives will be destroyed. They have prayed themselves sick. Please do not respond with that is God’s will that is a cop out.
Hello @vwindsor62, here are a few conversations you may find worth your time to read through and introduce yourself to the members specifically talking about arachnoiditis, https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/arachnoiditis/ and https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/i-am-desperate-to-find-a-dr-who-treats-arachnoiditis-i-live/.
