Medication for Alopecea A.

Posted by leannestork @leannestork, Dec 12, 2023

Hi there Everyone..... I have had Alopecia Areata for many years now. I have been on Methotrexate and then Mycophenolate for the past 4 years... just incase it helps someone .... as i have a funny heart prone to palpatations... i ended up with 17,000 ectopic heart thuds per day and then at a heart specialist. I have told both specialists i am dumping all medication for 6 months to give my body a break because honestly i think the first two medications made my heart worse. I am over feeling so exhausted as well. I am starting to lose hair again but decided that i don't care because i feel so much better off the medications. My question is.... apologies .. .has anyone had other medication that doesn't drain you that might help .. I also have Lupus and Fibromyalgia

I just heard of a new med for treatment called Litfulo. It was recently approved. I don’t know much about it. You could check with your doctors.

leannestork, I have heard that Spirolactone (prescription diuretic) helps with hair loss. Have you ever tried that one? Praying for you and I am so sorry you are going through this. Blessings & Hugs...

My daughter's doctor said he uses Minoxidil; she tried it and it works! Takes a few weeks to notice, but it does work.
