Good morning!
Ouch! Your issues with your leg sounds painful!! What sort of a doctor cares for this? Has the doctor given you pain meds?
I am a big believer of being your own advocate. I also am a huge believer in doing research to find the best medical care I can. My docs have given me referrals for docs and when I research the doc on multiple sites, the reviews are horrible. I live in Central Florida approximately one hour between Tampa and Disney. How about you?
Yes, walking is a huge issue. My legs don't work well and neither do my feet. The reason I need a neurologist is because my neurosurgeon is concerned about some kind of degenerative disease or something even more serious. It worries me but I have to have faith I will find the best doc possible to care for me.
No, I don't really read very much anymore. I had shingles about 5 years ago. The virus, not the rash, went into my eyes causing a temporary palsy. It did, however, leave me with some visual issues. Even with glasses, my eyes eventually start to sway. I have come to deal with it.
Not great for a person only 63 years old.
So, I try to enjoy and do what I can while I can.
Feel good!!

I'm so happy to hear that your back pain is better and you're healing well. I'm sorry to hear about your leg and foot problems. Since you live in Florida, can you get your neurosugeon to refer you to the Mayo Clinic there? Perhaps you have already tried, but if not I recommend it. Also consider whether traveling to another state to get a diagnosis and see an excellent doctor sooner would be a good thing to do. I too do a lot of research on physicians before I go to them. I hope you find what you need and get relief from your leg weakness and ankle problems.

@grandmar Hey Ronnie Grandmar! My primary care doctor is caring for my cellulitis. I’m taking care of my knee! I really think an orthopedic doctor needs to look at it, though. Something is wrong that rest isn’t helping. Yes, I am “the researcher”. My friends ask me to do this for them because I love it. I’m sorry about your legs and eyes. You have such a great attitude, though. You’re passing it on to me and I know you don’t even realize it.
I live in Cary, NC which is a suburb of Raleigh. I am extremely lucky because i am about 20 miles from UNC-Chapel Hill hospital and Duke University hospital. Plenty of top notch docs! Can you travel?
We had 7” of snow this past weekend and we’re supposed to have rain this weekend. I wanted to go grocery shopping with my brother but I can’t operate a walker and hold an umbrella simultaneously. At least it’s not that bone chilling cold which is awful for arthritis and fibro! Hope you’re having a good day!........Karen

Thank you for the suggestion about Mayo. I have a blanket referral for a neurologist since we did not know where I would be able to get an appointment.
I think I will try Mayo. I have nothing to lose. I was rejected 3 or 4 times when I couldn't get help with my cervical and lumbar pain.
Depending what the outcome is, I would not rule out going to another state.
My daughter in law works for Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. I will have that as another option.
Have a geeat evening!

I actually had the shot when I already got it.
There is a new 2 part shingle shot. My hubby and I had the 1st part, but there is a shortage of the 2nd part. Apparently, there is some sort of a lottery system as to which pharmacy gets the 2nd part.
It might have been too long that we might have to start agsin and pay again.
Oh well...

Hello, I'm new here but really need to talk about the pain I suffer and what I do about it...I'm a 61 year old female, maybe 5 lbs overweight and suffer with horrible hip pain. and the diagnosis is arthritis. I have been taking pain medication for 10 years..I'm not an addict however I know that my body is dependent on them..I never take more than is prescribed, ever. Now I have a compression fracture in my L1 vertebrae which happened on July 10 2018, just by lifting an ice chest..It was absolutely miserable for at least 2 plus months..It's been all this time and my back still hurts, I'm aware of it at all times..The pain medication does knock the edge off of my back pain...I just want either Doctor's or the public to know, that some of us MUST TAKE PAIN MEDICATION in order to have a good life and we are not all addicts..I do not do any illegal drugs, nor would I smoke pot as an option..I hate feeling out of control of my faculties..So in saying this, I hope that Doctors listen to their patients, not allow them to suffer because they, themselves don't like pain medication..Honestly, if I had to suffer the pain I have without medication...my life would be horrible and not sure I could even go on living..I'd just give up..as so many people do! It would be easy enough for a physician to test their patients to make sure they don't have more than prescribed in there blood..Thank goodness, my doctor completely understands, he is strict and that's fine with me, but he will not allow me to suffer...Well that's my 2 cents..LOL..Have a good day everyone, hope I didn't bore you!
