Tymlos is unaffordable and cardiologist says no to Evenity. What now?
I switched health plans because Tymlos was on the formulary but when I got the co-pay info it was astounding. Between the Eliquis which I take for AFIB and the Tymlos, I will be at $8k by June 2024 with start date of 01/24. Any reco's?

Yes, I have an inherited heart condition and AFib so my cardiologist said no to Evenity.
Thanks! I think they may want me to follow up with Reclast so I’ll have to check that out. Maybe Actenol would be better. I tried Fosamax years ago and couldn’t tolerate it. I have to say though, I’m personally leaning to Forteo as it is has been around so much longer than Evenity.
That’s good to know. Thanks. I’ll be sure to check with my cardiologist if I decide to go that route.
@nancy69 why does your doc not want Evenity? My docs are okay with it. From what I have read and been told, it does not have any relevance for afib. Then again, sounds like you have another heart condition.
I posted above about the study comparing cardiovascular issues with Evenity and placebo and there was no difference. Two cardiologists told me Evenity was fine. I am nervous too!
The alternatives: Forteo and Tymlos do cause faster heartbeat for a short amount of time after the injection (Forteo for me was much worse but everyone is different. Tymlos was a godsend for me) and there was some caution about Reclast and afib which seems to have been lifted. It's tough!
Have you talked to a pharmacist about your predicament? Maybe they can give you options.
Thank you for all this info. I will be starting Evenity soon and have been anxious about the cardio part. I feel better now. Thanks.
Nancy69: My understanding is that many, if not all, of these pharma programs to help with drug costs don't include Medicare. The ones I have looked at all said to be eligible you have to be on commercial insurance. Please correct me if I'm wrong!
Really? That’s great news. If you have additional info that would be great too
I have Medicare and I have support. Are you using a medical specialty pharmacy? There are grants, programs etc. Speak with a speciality pharmacy pharmacist. Also contact the manufacturer Teraperitide ( Forteo) , often times they have programs. Although they have financial barriers fill out the paperwork anyway. It usually works out.
Coupons are not available for those on Medicare but Radius assist is, if you meet income limits.
