Anyone having problems with leg cramps during the night?
I have just started having leg cramps in the middle of the night. Last night they woke me up every couple of hours. Going to see the doctor tomorrow so I'll ask him what I can do. Anyone else having this problem and what have you done?

I am also used to legs cramping but ever since being Dx with PMR i keep track of all the associated ( or not) pains and their time and duration and any other variables. I started doing PT in a pool so being barefoot while in pool and then walking with new sneakers was a real possibility for me.
so yes to water and bananas i guess !!
PS - Are most of the commenters here on omeprazole because of being on Prednisone ?
"Most case reports of hypomagnesaemia have been associated with long-term use of omeprazole at normal doses (20 - 40mg per day)" is. a google result.
I started eating a banana everyday and it helped. Also, Hyland’s Leg Cramp tablets.
I’ve had really bad leg cramps since starting prednisone and hand cramps, as well. I know it’s not because of hydration. All my labs were fine. I’m not taking Omeprazole.
I've had restless leg syndrome, which is similar to leg cramps, but more of a sudden, almost uncontrollable, need to move the legs.
It peaks in around bedtime.
Supplementing with iron glycinate made it go away. Iron deficiency is a known cause of restless leg syndrome. I think the inflammatory response to PMR resulted in my body making iron unavailable to the tissues by storing with ferritin. Now that the inflammation has been reduced, due to treatment, I am reducing the level of iron supplementation.

I have leg cramps when I don’t take enough magnesium. I take 250 mg mag glycinate at night and 250 mg mag citrate at lunch.
I keep di pickle juice beside my bed. It works big time!!!
I had cramps in one leg for a few days. In addition of, and in support of what others have shared, I strongly believe that water and bananas really helps with this. I eat 2 bananas each day and one big jug of water with some lemon which reduces inflammation, and also ginger which has health benefits. Something else that seems to help me a lot with PMR and which has been recommended by others is TUMERIC. Perhaps the best advice is to reduce sugar intake considerably. Nutrition, and exercise in moderation is also a big part of the solution. Hope this helps for you.
