I'm 69 and fortunately was a coke drinker until three months ago. I don't know why I never looked, but most non-diet soda contains 7 or more teaspoons of sugar per 12 oz. This leads to fat, especially visceral fat, the stuff in your torso that surrounds major organs.
Soda, diet or not, is at least as dangerous to health as cigarettes, IMO. So the answer to the poster's question is to stop drinking Pepsi or any other soda.
My PCP went so far as to say soda should be banned, or warning labels placed to spare the public the diseases and ailments these products cause.
Oh and I went from 188 lbs to 175 lbs in two months. I do exercise, especially cardio, but simply cutting out soda and avoiding other refined sugar and syrup accounted for most of the weight loss, and it was all fat, especially visceral fat. And I feel better. Go figure.......
