Safe drug for BPH While at same time not damaging my existing PBC.
I have an auto immune disease called PBC [primary biliary cholangitis]' I also have in the past year been diagnosed with BPH [benign prostatic hyperplasia]. Is there a drug for bph that won't hurt my liver? Two drugs my doctor has tried to put me on both have this warning [ if you have moderate to severe liver disease do not take] I was on tamsulosin, but it gave me a severe cough. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like he takes my past records into consideration.

Welcome @bphpbc, I also have BPH and am being treated with tamsulosin. I have similar concerns about my long term treatment although I don't have primary biliary cholangitis. I've thought about an alternative to the tamsulosin but haven't made a decision yet. There are a few discussions you might find helpful on alternatives.

Have you thought about or looked into alternative treatments (minimal invasive, non-medication) like Uro-Lift?
Thank you very much for replying! I will definitely check into these alternatives.
