Multiple Myeloma and Apricot Seeds/Vitamin B17

Posted by ChefT @cheft, Dec 1, 2023

Has anyone been consuming Apricot Seeds to reduce/slow or stop the progression and if so, what have the benefits been if any.

Here is a link to a study showing the consumption with zinc showed significant success in killing cancer cells

Interesting. I had not heard of this. It appears to be from 2020? Wonder if there are any patients within the United States who have tried this therapy? The study was done in Egypt.

Excuse me for butting in but the title caught my attention. I was reminded of when cancer patients desperate for a cure travelled to Mexico for laetriile treatments. That was made from peach pits Fruit pits contain cyanide so there is a danger with them. Taking vitamin B17 should be okay but please be careful with using the pits themselves.

I worries by butting in. In my limited further research I found a couple things. There really is no such thing as vitamin B17. It’s just a made up thing instead of saying Laetriile. Also I found a couple studies done in Mexico and a couple other places but forgot to copy before closing my browser.

You can buy organic Apricot seeds on Amazon and it takes eating up to 50 in one sitting to cause harm or possible death. Also says in moderate amounts with Zinc is best.

I think I’m gonna give it a try. I already take 7000mg Curcumin every day with Omega 3’s. Might as well try this for my MGUS.

@cheft and @normahorn, Now I’m going to be butting in. 😉
Please be cautious about taking supplements that aren’t approved by the FDA. With your multiple myeloma your bone morrow/immune system is already compromised. Adding potentially harmful chemicals is risky at best. If you are considering any supplements it’s important to talk with your oncologist hematologist first. There are implications, complications and contraindications you may not be aware of when taking unapproved treatments with current medications for your MM.

I highly recommended reading these articles posted below:
“Currently, there is no evidence to support that apricot kernels can help treat cancer. Instead, apricot kernels may contain chemicals that have the potential to be harmful to the body”

@loribmt and @normahorn - As always people should consult with their doctor about any treatment. I did not tell nor suggest anyone take aprocot seeds, I simply asked if anyone tried it and if so was there any evidence of cancer cell reduction. A person can buy apricot seeds an just about any health food store or Amazon for consumption. It would take a massive amount of consumption at one time to pose severe health risks to the majority of the population.

People have been consuming apricot seeds for hundreds of years.

To each thier own on what weight they put on FDA approved produts for any treatment. The FDA approved and reccomended a completely non studied nor verified Covid vaccine for years and still do.

The link you posted from Medical News Today states "Can they help fight cancer?
Apricot kernels may have some health benefits, and some people have suggested that they may help fight cancer.

Scientists have proposed that a compound called amygdalin, present in apricot kernels, may be a way to eradicate tumors and prevent cancer by stopping cells from reproducing.

A laboratory study published in 2005 suggested that amygdalin might inhibitTrusted Source genes that lead to cell proliferation.

In 2012, a laboratory study found that enhancing amygdalin with β-D-glucosidase may make it usefulTrusted Source in treating liver cancer.
For everything you posed expressing negativity to the use, there are further clinical studies to show success in it's aplication.

The link from the FDA simply warns that they are stating clinical use and didn't get FDA approval. Plenty of things are beneficial to people without big pharma bought and paid for FDA approval.

Everyone needs to do their own research and decide what is best for them,
