Ronnie, I am again amazed by your positive feelings in spite of your extreme pain. You continue to look for the positive in each issue you have. You are an inspiration to others in pain, including me. My pain feels small after reading your posts. I hope your doctors find a conservative treatment for your spine problems. I have a compression fracture in my C7, and when it's inflamed the pain is excruciating. I also have ongoing osteoarthritis, DDD, lumbar issues, spondylitis, etc which I'm sure you've read in my previous posts.

While I am feeling better right now, I notice that my neck and back pain and leg weakness is slowly returning. Your experiences are helping me as I suspect I will be needing additional work one of these months. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and feelings on this site. You're helping so many others in similar positions, in spite of your pain.

Genesight testing will tell you which drugs to have in your pump. Drugs that had stopped working orally did work when given in micro doses via the pump. Love and Blessings

Smoke that dope girl, when you can get it. Remember for the Doctors protection of their license, they have to try all the dumb shit before they break out the good drugs. Opioids will help but eventually they will let you down. Love and Blessings.

It is important for the Doctors protection that they try everything else before they reach for the narcotics. We need them, we need to do the dance they are forced to call. Love and Blessings.

You never want them to give you enough narcotics to actually end your pain. Aim for a pain level of 2 to 3. This is the best way to avoid addiction. When you have enough drugs in your system to extinct your pain and have some left over, your brain says, "party time" and starts pumping out the endorphins. I went from 252 mgs. a day to 46 mgs. a day over night. My entire withdrawal was 2 hours of restless leg one night. Love and Blessings

@lioness
Good luck to us both!
Did some research, yesterday, about the pain pump.
I have concerns about becoming addicted to the meds.
You get a more potent drug than you get orally directly into the spinal canal.
As far as becoming addicted, one of the sites I was on said you WOULDN'T (or that you would).
My hubby keeps telling me to take the pain meds and not wait until the pain is so bad.
I take all sorts of meds for all sorts of issues, but I am terrified of becoming addicted to the pain meds.
I never had to take them very much before (maybe 1 or 2 a month, if that much).
I feel I have an addictive personality.
Up until now, my drug of choice has been food.
I had weight loss surgery to help (but it is only a tool).
My dad had an addiction to sleeping pills, which I believe impacted his dementia.
I'll let you know if I go for it and if I find out anything new.

Here's to a pain free day for us all!
Ronnie (GRANDMAr)

I understand not wanting to get addicted to a drug. I live alone and I only discuss my on going pain with God and my dog.
I have found things that do help. I walk, even when it's hot. Keeping busy will help. I have no idea about anatriptaline. I take one in the morning and one at bedtime. My pain is excelleratef by my RA flares. I was once addicted to Morphine. It was horrible. Given to me by a Dr who knew very little about RA. The road is difficult. I see nothing wrong with taking a drug to relieve pain as long as you are attempting to find alternatives
I used by Hemp lotion on my neck and I felt less pain.

@wsh66
Based on my experience with gene testing it has proven very effective in welling our physicians prescribed and dose patients.
The purpose of PGx testing is to determine the risk of side effects and/or likelihood of effectiveness of a given medication. Physicians are often asked about side effects of prescribed drugs and factors that may alter the effectiveness of a drug, and can only guess until they actually know your genetic make up.

Here is a link for alittle more information. http://mayoresearch.mayo.edu/center-for-individualized-medicine/drug-gene-testing.asp

You indicated you had the testing completed. The results are supposed to be given to the doctor and the patient. Have you tried contacting your doctor that ordered the testing?

@oregongirl I ran out of Hemp oil Used it as a massage and it did help have to get it again Unless you take more then the Dr perscribes you wont become addictived My back fracture in 05 I was on Tramadol 50 mg 6 a day then Dr started weaning me of at a certain point 1at a
time till now Im down to one ,he told me you wont get addicted to narcs if you take them as I perscribe them I never did become addicted praying for good results for you I go tomorrow pray for same thing.@texasfreedom

Tramadol is not a narcotic. It is addictive in a very insidious way. You will get sick when you go cold turkey, just like you would from narcotics. The difference is you won't crave more tramadol, you'll just get sick, 72 to 96 hours. Tes, personal experience, the first year it was on the market. They were passing it out by the bucket full as a substitute for hydrocodone.

@wsh66 I know its not a narcotic I did take Morphine ,Vicoden, Percoden but never got addicted I was pointing out as long as you do as the Dr says you wont get addicted unless you ,yourself abuse it.
