Best Medicare Insurance for MGUS and Multiple Myeloma?
As it is time for Medicare insurance decisions I was wondering what kind of experience some of you have had with the Medicare Advantage plans versus original Medicare and a supplement when it comes to treating MGUS or Multiple Myeloma?
Do Advantage plans (Part C) give enough coverage for drugs and procedures, such as chemo or bone marrow transplants?

I realized I had requested an application for AARP/UHC for my husband. I just checked and found it. The medical underwriting questions are extensive.
We are not switching my husband from his PA Blue Cross Freedom G Plan. His current monthly cost is lower with his current G plan.
I believe if you go on Medicare.gov you might be able to compare G plans.
Goodmorning, I was reading through the post, hoping to get a idea on how to better handle my ins situation and noticed you are going through " Omaha Mutual " for the Medigap policy.
I live in Omaha, Ne when I went online into Medicare.gov, & checked out my options for Medigap policys. OMutual were not even listed. The ones I as able to pull were over $600.00 a month.
I feel like maybe I'm missing something on finding Medigap policys, or maybe its due to myself being under 65 still.
I had thought about moving to a different state, just to get a cheaper medigap monthly premium, But; them I seen your post.
Is there any suggestions you can give me on the process of finding Medigap policy's.
I've tried calling Ship, they were not helpful, only wanted to put me in a advantage plan.
I definitely need to be able to go to Dr's outside of Omaha for care, I've thought about relocating to Texas or Colorado, But; not certain of what Dr's are going to be taking Tradional Medicare next year, so confusing.
I appreciate any guidance you can shoot my way! Thank you! 😇
I believe that only applies to drug plans and Advantage plans. Medigap Supplements are not in the open enrollment category. Thanks!
Oh my! I am over 65 so maybe that is the difference. Medicare.gov can connect you with Medigap policies in your area. Or if you or a relative are veterans, USAA also offers Medigap plans.
@lilli64 I needed to enter my zip code to get available plans. So, that might be why you are not seeing those you would like. We live in a fairly rural area, with poor medical resources. Luckily, in this state I did not need to submit another whole new application for this new Plan G.
Every year there seems to be more anxiety over our insurance coverage. As if we don't already have enough going on!

Sorry, you are correct that you can change your Medicare supplement any time in the year!
Thank you Soo Much!
Thank you, I will go back in and give it another try. I had looked up plans about 3 months ago, and swore it offered alot more plans than three for under 65, maybe they were updating and have more to offer now. 🤞🏻
Gosh, I wonder if the questions for a Medigap policy for someone under 65, would be even more detailed to pass 🙁 ?
