There are several areas of bursa in the hip. Usually it is the trochanter bursa they refer to. The fluid in the bursa can become thin over or can become inflamed. I like this link for the drawings https://chironptva.com/guide-to-hip-burs20healingitis/ Other types of hip pain can come from the sacroi liac joint which can dispace the ball of the hip from the socket; you can have a tear in lining of the hip joint; or fracture in the ball of the hip. You might be able to figure out the cause of your bursitis. Maybe it was an unusual activity lifting or a new exercise routine. Or you might be able to have antiinflammatory injection or https://nyulangone.org/conditions/bursitis-tendinitis/treatments/therapeutic-injections-for-bursitis-tendinitis#:~:text=As%20part%20of%20a%20nonsurgical,and%20swelling%20and%20encourage%20healing.
best wishes

Thank you so much. I'll look at all of this information. As far as I can guess I got this from sitting for 4 hours on an air plane and then binge watching a series on Netflix. Too much sitting.
