I came home a month ago from a 3 1/2 hour plane ride and my hip area started hurting. Now it is very painful. If i am given an injection now I'm afraid that if I want to go on another aiplane ride in mid February it will have worn off. I am wondering if I should wait until closer to my trip for it.
I'm 82 and i have some foot neuropathy from chemo that ended 2 years ago. I've never had pain like this before. It's affecting my posture and being able to sit without a lot of drugs, over the counter and some serious ones.

I suffer from hip bursitis frequently and get cortisone injections when the pain gets unbearable. I have lupus but I don’t know if that matters. My doctor will only use cortisone if my last injection was over 3 months previously.

I have an update. My pain is gone now and I'm traveling by plane again soon. The steroid injection fixed me for the time being. I don't expect it to come back if I am careful. I made a big mistake when I first hurt my hip by putting heat on it which inflamed it further. I should have used cold packs.
