Meknight: chronic pain, fibermyalgia, sleep issues, arthritis, female, 50's. Pain keeps me up at night, and when I do sleep, I wake up stiff and in more pain. My fingers and toes are painfully swollen and turning. I see a pain specialist, but the meds barely make life bearable. Looking for another way to survive.

Hello @meknight, welcome to Connect. We are glad you found us. Connect is a great place to ask questions, share your health story and learn what others with similar health conditions are doing for treatments.

May I ask if you have found anything that helps you now?

I am tagging other members to see if they can offer some suggestions or information. @JustinMcClanahan, @wsh66, @oregongirl, @parus, @liz223, @jimhd, @lioness, @hopeful33250, can you provide any suggestions for @meknight ?

John

Hello @meknight, I would like to add my welcome to John's.

Here are a few discussions and groups you may find worth your time to read through and participate where you feel comfortable:
- Fibromyalgia pain, https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/fibromyalgia-pain-28e002/
- Sleep Health, https://connect.mayoclinic.org/group/sleep-health/

No, nothing that helps other than a Miracle. I fell twice..very bad..brought out so many issues. But since my falls I have little pain from my RA. I was on a blood thinner and you can imagine the blood loss. My face and body looked like I was beaten badly. I don't recall either fall. In particular the second one. One week apart. Several weeks in hospital. They never did find what was wrong.

@meknight your in the right place all of us have same issues some more, some less I'm a naturalist when it comes to what I take but there is alot of good info here just ask questions.

I have same issues for along time till I found Meloxicam and Tramadol this helps me.Other then net you can try:I'ce in morning for hands @feet this takes swelling down, sock them in warm water .For restless legs Primipexal Scrip from Dr needed for pain this helps me Tramadol@Meloxicam people have TENS units, great . This is all a battle but don't give into it ,right and find out what helps you Let us know

I've tried Oxy and Hydrocodone, neither work. I purposely take it only when necessary so that I don't build up a tolerance. They do take the edge off but they also make me loopy. I had a bad toothache a few months ago and the dentist gave me Tramadol. Now that worked GREAT! I kept 1 in case of an emergency.
My problem is that my pain doc will not prescribe pain killers except if I have a procedure that might be painful. So, I count on meds from other docs when I have a surgery or something like that. Sadly, that has been more often than I like.

Dear oregongirl, Re. "not finding out what was wrong" that is - what caused your falls: My doctor attributed my two uncontiousness caused falls to SYNCOPE when the body just "winks out" momentarily. One moment I was on the phone and the next I was flat on the floor clutching the phone in a "death grip" and the other, I was watering the garden and the next moment I saw the pavement inches from my face as It approached smack down (and what a bruised chin and eye I received). In the first fall I injured my lower back irreparably and rue the day the caller, who had nothing on their mind, made that call after a sensible late night hour. I hope this is helpful.......
