Severe Ozempic Side Effects
I am new to taking ozempic and just started 5 days ago. The prescribed dose was 0.5 mg and I have been so sick ever since I injected that dose.
I'm experiencing nausea, dry heaves, and most unexpectedly, severe anxiety. I feel like I'd like to crawl out of my skin and can't wait till this drug clears my system. I can't eat, but I know it's not healthy to totally forgo essential certain vitamins and minerals. I snack on pretzels because they are bland and have salt.
Has anyone else had an extreme anxiety and sickness response to starting Ozempic?

I started with trulicity a few years ago. Some nausea. I moved to ozempic and was soo sick. Vomiting, dry heaves, diarrhea, nausea. I lasted a week and went back to trulicity.
I tried ozempic again a year later hoping for better bs control and weight loss. Less problems this time. Symptoms lessened week-by-week.
I stuck it out and was happy I did.
Thanks for sharing your experience.......very helpful!
@labgirl Ozempic was recommended to me by a Mayo endocrinologist. My own local endocrinologist (who knows me best) prescribed something else but said we could reconsider Ozempic at a later date if I was still interested. Almost all prescriptions have side effects. Have you discussed the side effects with the prescribing physician? Maybe there is an alternative medication that could be considered.
@labgirl I have been taking Ozempic for many years, beginning with .5 to today with 2mg. I had the same problem with a diabetic dose of Farxiga as you are having with Ozempic. As @cehunt57 says, many medications have side effects. Those side effects can also cause bad lab results. You may also wish to check with your local pharmacist to see if there are any interactions between Ozempic and your current medications.
I started ozempic in 8/2021. The first 30-45 days was nauseated, diarrhea, certain smells were sensitive! I felt like I did with sever morning sickness. I lost 65# taking ozempic for 2 years. However I think most of the loss was lean muscle mass! Hope you feel better soon.
My mom has diabetestype2 so we have been done 0.5mg reduced 0.25mg.
I plan on trying 0.25mg after the holidays. Thanks for the reply!
I am starting in Mounjaro. Has anyone tried that one?
I start in February after I finish labs and gastro tests. It was prescribed by a great GI physician as well as my endocrinologist. I know very little about it and wonder about side effects and good effects. We move forward. Obesity is serious. Am glad to read about others having success.
I tried .5 Mounjaro several months ago which was prescribed by (1) GI specialist and (1) Endo, MD specialist .
After four days on Mounjaro, I ended up in the ER due to severe pain in the gastro area, dizziness and spasms.
They provided eventual relief, but my BP had soared to over 200. In all fairness, I failed to drink 64 oz of liquid and that had a lot to do with the problem, Still, the spasms I had were quite painful.
My PCP said that these weight loss, Diabetic 2 meds work for some, but not for all. I wish everyone well with this med as I do believe it works for some.
Hi Babswell, I began Mounjaro almost a year ago. The reason was due to my A1C being over 10.5 and nothing was bringing it down. So, months have passed now and it has worked tremendously in lowering it. My current A1C is now sitting at 6.8. There has been very little weight loss but that's fine as that wasn't my reason for getting on it. The side effects though have been consistent for the first three days after taking the injection. There is always very bad nausea. So, if possible ask the doctor to prescribe some anti-nausea medication to take, if needed. Please remember that the medication may have a side effect regarding affecting your heart so discuss it with your physician also.
