Anyone treated for pancreatic cancer at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville?

Welcome @cpmcb, I'm tagging fellow members @altc321 @mikewdby @victoriadukes @tpw3845 @chemobile @elm60 and @sloped483, who I believe have all mentioned that they went for pancreatic cancer assessment and treatment at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. They can share their experiences first hand.

I would always add/opine that one should attempt to be treated at the best location possible ... and, that if possible, relocate to that facility's area for all care, including chemo - ie, using Mayo Rochester as an example, move there until you have recovered - enhance your outcome in any way possible.

To the Mayo Jax question - my sense is they are not a pancan center in the way Mayo Rochester is.

Although my primary Mayo doctors are located @ Rochester, I’ve had a followup contrast MRI at Jacksonville Mayo. I have another one planned for this January as we stay in Florida for the winter. They are monitoring a lesion on my Pancreas for the past 18 months. Yes, I get ‘scananxiety’ every time - but I get the same attention and care at both locations.

The story I love to tell is,…my primary Mayo Pancreatic doctor @ Rochester knew I was nervous and worried at my first visit. I was almost in tears upon hearing about the so far non-cancerous cyst. He looked at me, put his hand on my knee, looked me in the eyes and said “don’t worry,…you’re at Mayo”. I thought WOW! It has kept me going the past 18 months. Here’s praying that it continues not to grow.

Victoria Dukes I believe has been actually treated at Jax Mayo. Hopefully she can share her experience.

My prayers and thoughts to all, to trust in Gods will. It’s hard to do - but as the passage goes “if God takes care of the little sparrows, He will take care of us.

So are you saying, that once you register with one location, you are allowed to receive treatments at another?
Or do you have to separately register at each?

@cpmcb, another thing to keep in mind is that regardless of the Mayo location where you receive care, your team has access to their physician colleagues at all locations.

At Mayo Rochester, my physician setup the work order for my follow up MRI at the Mayo Jacksonville site. I then called the Jacksonville appointment (number provided to me by my doctor) center. They noticed and found the order and made the Appointment. Easy Peasy.

…here is hoping they find that my cyst is not growing….
