@marjoriem

I had a polyp in one nostril and had surgery. This was years ago, in 2004. Before the surgery, I had headaches all the time and also had a lot of sinus infections and antibiotics were not effective. I did great with the surgery and was only out of work a couple of days. One of the side effects of sinus surgery is dry sinuses and boy are my sinuses dry! To manage it, I use a humidifier and Ayr nasal spray daily. Best wishes to you.

Thank you sooooo much for your reply, it has given me a lot of hope because my doctor said that if a polyp is one sided it could be cancerous. So I am just so nervous until my CT sinus scan on Monday and on the 27th I will have my results from my doctor.

I've never heard that if a polyp is one-sided it could be cancerous. In fact, my doctor never suggested that it could be and it was benign. It was definitely causing my headaches.

Thank you so much for your reply, Susan. Do you remember if the polyp was in one nostril only? This is a key answer. Polyps in both nostrils is normal but if it is only in one it could be malignant. I will appreciate your reply. Thank you again, tons and tons.

I wish you the BEST, I hope everything will be different than mine. My symptoms were a lot of sneezing, postnasal drip, eye pain. Please do, please go to an ENT and have you checked with the camera. I always thought my symptoms were from allergies but I was wrong.

Well, I will surprise you and everyone else reading my message. They found a "polyp" in my nose and had to have surgery. I had the surgery but there was no polyp at all..........the only thing I had was some liquid that was infected but no cancer. I went through all this, I almost lost my kidneys from the anesthesia because it affected my kidneys........I had to stay in the hospital with any ivy for a week until my kidneys came back to normal, otherwise I would have had to have dialysis. A horrible experience.
