@bmisslich

My recovery time was only about two months. It was major surgery due to the size of the spleen.
The surgery was in November and I was back to cross country skiing in January the next year.
Of course, without a spleen, I have to be more cautious about getting a bacterial infection. I usually carry a bottle of antibiotics with me, and if I have a significant wound or injury I can use the meds

Two months is a remarkable recovery time from such a major surgery and you’re remarkable for getting right back on your feet and hitting the ski trails!

I knew that it’s possible to live without a spleen but wasn’t certain about the precautions one needs to take to keep healthy. Thanks for sharing your experience! Won’t be long now and you’ll be back out in the snow!

Bmisslich, recently diagnosed w/ smzl and have a choice bw Rituxan and splenectomy and am leaning towards splenectomy. Why did you choose that over Rituxan? Thank you, L
