Hello
My dr ( an osteoporosis specialist)suggested Tymlos
My cost $2,300
A month
Not happening
Then she told me to come on and get a brochure ( not a talk) about
Evenity, Reclast, and prolia
Also she suggested I research online

I’m going to my dr for a second opinion
I’m so fed up with the meds that are available

For people who are low income, there are programs to assist financially. Your doc should be able to help.

My docs were no help but calling the manufacturer worked!

Does anyone know if there are fewer side effects with Forteo than Tymlos? I have been taking 20 mcg or 1/4 dose of Tymlos for 2 weeks. I am still dizzy most of the day with a morning headache and balance issues. Some people have written that they love Forteo.

I might have written that about Forteo. I haven't had side effects at all with Forteo. At 20mcg you are getting the same dose of PTH as Forteo. Both drugs lower your blood pressure as the PTH causes vasodilation. The vasodilation can cause headaches. And the dizzy lack of balance is from the low blood pressure.
I always hydrate before the injection and use it as an excuse to eat something salty.
There is a preservative in Tymlos that causes adverse reactions in some.
Some people really can't tolerate Forteo.
You could try taking the shot before bed.
Sometimes symptoms go away when your body adjusts. But two weeks with morning headaches? I wouldn't want to try and sleep with a headache either.
I hope it resolves. But I do think Forteo is the best osteoporosis drug.

@drsuefowler I could not tolerate Forteo at all. I even tried 10% of the dose and went to an immunologist to desensitize. I was able to tolerate Tymlos because the dose is adjustable and I could ramp up.

Thanks @windyshores. Sorry to hear about so much trouble with Forteo. I will stick with Tymlos. I have sent a question to my endo asking if I can just stay at 20 mcg.

@drsuefowler maybe you would do better with Forteo. I could see doing 40mcg but not sure 20mcg is enough. Let us know what your doc says. One person I PM'ed with did 20mcg but twice a day. I had never heard of that but you could ask.
I never had NO side effects from Tymlos, even ramping up. I did get to 6 or 7 clicks but I wasn't entirely free of fatigue, sometimes dizzy , low bp etc.
