My oral surgeon and dentist both are against water picks and electric toothbrushes because they claim that they push bacteria up under the gums. This is their theory at least. They claim there is no reliable study showing they prevent cavities more than brushing and flossing. Just an opinion. I have some dental implants so I just brush and floss and no problems at all for over 10 years.

My dentist and our friend who is a retired dentist agree with you. Furthermore, 25 years ago, my ENT said that the WaterPik was contributing to my recurrent sinus infections. When I stopped, the frequency did decrease by half.
