I had the ABBOTT DRG spinal cord stimulator implanted about 3 years ago for toe and ball of feet throbbing from Neuropathy in both feet. It never worked at all. In fact, the last few weeks I had it on, the pain spread to my legs and glutes. I had electrical sensations throughout the legs, feet, and glutes. It was frightening and horribly painful. My DRG leads and battery are still in me, but turned off. All in all, a horrific experience. I reported the device to the FDA.
I am so sorry you had such an awful painful experience. I was told that SCS
wouldn't help with feet and toes- too far fro. Spinal chord. I did a DRG
trial that had great hope but the device wouldn't hold up in MRI.
Wow I wish you had better news. Good luck! Thanks for responding so quickly.
Thanks. We all need support. If we make enough noise maybe Abbott will take
another look and upgrade...if you trust then.
When did you do the trial ? Currently the abbot DRG is compatible with mri for extremities and they are I. Process for fda approval for whole body mri . I am scheduling a trial and my doc in Boston ( top doc) and he says DRG has had much success with the foot and lower extremities. DRG is better for lower extremities than normal spinal cord stim .
Idid the trial with a different doctor. It seemed successful., but I had to move. Went to MD in Philadelphia. I knew his partner. My biggest prom was that I will need breast MRIs every 6 months and the DRG leads are too close to my trunk- not on my feet. If Abbott saw fit to invest more in IPN then they might have a DRG that I could use. We need lots of vocal people.
Thanks amd I wish you the best.
I get it . Mri ‘s are necessary. I was told by the abbot rep that they expect full body mri to be approved by FDA within next 8 months . I hope this is true . Good luck with everything.
Thanks for the information. IPN is a cosiderable problem as you age and get more conditions Let's hope that Abbott goes forward quickly. Thanks so much.
