Hello. I had exactly this circumstance a year ago with a double mastectomy on December 8. I was worries too! And I thought the burden of the change was on me. I hope your experience is as positive as mine regarding this transfer. Basically, the old company transferred everything to the new company and to the doctors. I went to an appointment fretting to the intake person and she basically said “yes, we already know”. My new card didn’t come to well into January 2023 but I carried the letter I got regarding the change. It was not any kind of problem. Trust those doctors to have staff that are very diligent about payment! I’m sorry you are worried. Worry is a big part of cancer. But we are know it’s not helpful or productive. I’ll also add in an attempt to reassure you, that the surgery itself is not particularly painful. I had very little discomfort and virtually none that the Tylenol with codeine they gave me couldn’t manage. I wish you the absolute best on your journey!
If you are having reconstruction you will see the plastic surgeon weekly at first regarding the filling of expander over time as well as to check and then remove drains ( usually by week two or three). You likely won’t see your breast surgeon until a six week check ( if memory serves).
Expect multiple visits with plastic closely following surgery.
Hope this helps 🌸 and best to you.
PS: all insurance companies must, by law ( thank you ACA) cover breast cancer related surgeries and reconstructions but of course you want your team on board with your particular insurance company.
