What do others do about inflammation?

What do others do about inflammation? For the first time I have received a shot of cortisone in my right hand. But I am experiencing inflammation everywhere. Any suggestions other than cortisone to rid my body of this painful inflammation?

I think drinking ginger root is great but unfortunately I just can't handle the taste. Wish I could because I'm sure it would be great for my inflammation. What do you think about tablets?

I think tablets are a good idea along with lots of hydration. Both black and red cherry are good too. Mint tea is also very good for inflammation. 🍒🍵 🫚

Thank you for the other suggestions. I love mint tea - just didn't know it was good for inflammation.

@maddiemae i had a food sensitivity test done and I’m sensitive to ginger. So I was actually harming myself with the ginger I was using. However I’m going to give the cherry juice a try. I wonder if blacks has the same properties as tart? I’ve used tart for gout.

Oh no. How did you feel when you developed a sensitivity to ginger? I just ordered ginger supplements and elderberry supplements.

@maddiemae For inflammation I drink a strong tea of boiled fresh ginger root to which I add a small amount of concentrate black cherry juice. Sometimes I drink this hot and sometimes I drink it cold with an equal part of seltzer. I notice the difference when I go through a few days of not drinking my anti-inflammatory concoction. When I drink about a quart of this a day, I don't have to take any NSADs.

Great suggestions. I have been taking Celebrex, but will try your remedy. What a great idea! Yay for you. Thanks.

I didn’t notice anything before the test. But when I eliminated it from my diet my pain decreased and when I add it back my acid reflux comes back. eliminating and reintroducing the foods is the only way I can narrow down what symptoms they cause:

I'll watch for that since I already have acid reflux. Thanks.

I don't know exactly. but doctor says overuse of the hand and the fact that I have arthritis everywhere, i.e., feet, hands, fingers, neck, spine.

I also suffer from osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia.
It was surprising to me to discover certain foods cause flares. As I compile a list of foods that I like but don’t like me I have suffered from fewer flares and more almost normal days.

For me I have found that diet is important. No sugar (lots of foods have hidden sugar) and a good diet of fruit and vegetables. A couple of Tylenol at night with an Advil is pretty effective for me. Be careful of course not to overuse.

I'm 76 years of age. Twenty years ago I started running marathons. I run one marathon a year after training for six months. I do not run for time, just to finish, and I fast-walk about half of the marathon. I've finished all of them except one. Like many folks my age I have problems with arthritis and, yes, it is very painful. I think the people here who talk about the importance of diet and exercise are exactly right. It makes all the difference. Yes, I know it's not easy but it can be done if you are properly motivated. In my case it's running my yearly marathon. I know that's not for everyone but what is important is to find your...how shall I say it?...your exercise niche, something that you love to do, or at least don't find difficult or boring, anything that keeps you off of the sofa and moving around, keeps you physically active. And remember...let them call you "older" but never "old." You only get "old" if you allow yourself to go down that path.
