Anal Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Has anybody with squamous cell carcinoma on the inside of your body had it metastasize? I 'just started immunotherapy and wondering if anybody else has followed this path.

has anyone done the new low dose chemoradiation? how is it going. how severe are the side effects?
can i ask what immunotherapy you are doing and where?
Sam, I believe your question was for @zobesca. Looking back through their comments, they were on the immunotherapy called pembrolizumab, which stopped working for them.
Sam, have you decided to move forward with chemoradiation?
looks like I have no alternative.
will contact oncologist soon
First time on here. Have just been diagnosed with Anal Squamous Cell cancer stage 2b. From tests done it has not metastisized to any other area. Am meant to already have started Chemo and Radiation but have put it off for a few weeks making decisions. Im nearly 72 and have emphysema so just dont know if I would survive the treatment . Does anyone have any ideas about this?
I too have had squamous cell cancer in the anus. I had 6 weeks of chemo and radiation. The radiation was much more difficult for me to handle than the chemo. The burns and diarrhea were very difficult and painful. The radiation destroyed my sphincter muscle and left me with fecal incontinence. That resulted in me having a colostomy. I am now 3 months post op. I am going to be 74 on my next birthday. It’s a hard call to make. I was diagnosed cancer free in September.
Thanks for reply rio21, I hope things continue to improve for you. Still got till next Monday to let oncologist know my decision. Just getting as much info as I can to make that decision.
Will you have to wear the colostomy bag for the rest of your life?
I am your age and also diagnosed with Squamous cell cancer in my anus
Yes, Libby my ostomy, is forever. I named her Libby because she liberated me from the bathroom! Honestly, it’s not so bad. Once you find the right supplies and feel comfortable with what has to be done, it becomes second nature.
@princessjilly ,
How is the decision making coming along? I don’t have anything to offer on this, but I hope you find the option that’s best for you. I’ll look forward to seeing your updates. 🧸
