First time on here. Have just been diagnosed with Anal Squamous Cell cancer stage 2b. From tests done it has not metastisized to any other area. Am meant to already have started Chemo and Radiation but have put it off for a few weeks making decisions. Im nearly 72 and have emphysema so just dont know if I would survive the treatment . Does anyone have any ideas about this?

I too have had squamous cell cancer in the anus. I had 6 weeks of chemo and radiation. The radiation was much more difficult for me to handle than the chemo. The burns and diarrhea were very difficult and painful. The radiation destroyed my sphincter muscle and left me with fecal incontinence. That resulted in me having a colostomy. I am now 3 months post op. I am going to be 74 on my next birthday. It’s a hard call to make. I was diagnosed cancer free in September.

@princessjilly ,
How is the decision making coming along? I don’t have anything to offer on this, but I hope you find the option that’s best for you. I’ll look forward to seeing your updates. 🧸
