@seniorladyincanada Your comment re being hard of hearing even with hearing aids: I too have a hard time hearing even with the aids in. I 'suffered' for a long time, avoiding social situations because of that issue. Then it hit me - many many people are very understanding and will do what they can to make it easier for you - they will move closer to you to make it possible to hear better,, they do not care if they have to repeat what was just said, etc. Those who do not want to confirm to these ideas don't matter to me. I have to do what is best for myself and I'll be darned if I'm going to be ignored because of a problem that can't be fixed. I used to feel somewhat embarrassed when I first took up this idea of asking for repeats and moving closer to the speaker but I found out there are kind people out there who feel our discomfort. Give it a try - hopefully it would work out for you.

If you're a Toronto Raptors fan, perhaps you also live in Toronto. I know you said you stopped driving. Are you able to get around with public transit where you live? Are you mobile?
