Anybody tried riding a bike although you have balance issues when standing/walking? (eg does balance problem translate to biking?)

U go boy!
Along with my Trike I have a stationary bike for when the weather is not to my liking. An hour goes by very quickly when watching TV!
I use my recumbent bike daily…Most important for cardio/vascular, but helps with circulation due to peripheral neuropathy.

Is a recumbent bike easier to ride with bad balance?
I have difficulty getting my bike to go straight. I have the same problem when I walk.

My knees are bad and they want to do Total Knee Replacements! My feet have Neuropathy and Arthritis. Also I have Lymphedema is both legs. I am 79 yrs old and can walk with a cane but both of my whole legs just ache. I swim, which helps for the day but now my feet hurt real bad getting out of the Pools steps. Yes, my balance has been off for 5 years, had some bad falls but didn’t break anything. Doctors didn’t know what was wrong with me. Then last year Mayo Clinic Neurologist said I am going to find out what is wrong with your legs. I don’t have Diabetes so no doctors checked for Neuropathy. The tests showed the Neuropathy and severe Arthritis. He sent me to an Orthopedic Surgeon who said he couldn’t do surgery. But he scared me saying some drastic things. I don’t understand why they would want to do knee replacements and if I got an infection I could loose my feet!
