Any suggestions getting or not getting RSV, flu, covid vaccines?

I am traveling out of the country for 3 months , will be tapering to 8 or 8.5 prednisone in a week and just wondering about the 3 vaccines. The thought of getting 1 or all 3 frightens me as I believe the covid bivalent triggered my PMA. Just trying to weight out benefits …or consequences . ….

I decided to forego any vaccines this fall. I am uneasy with this choice but also uneasy about either complicating my recovery with an adverse reaction again or complicating it with an infection. My doctor says Prednisone lowers immune response to the RSV vaccine and at the cost of $350 the choice was made for me. BigPharma is big business and I find their profit motive distasteful.

For the time being I have decided not to travel by air and not to get any vaccines. My PMR started after my second Pfizer Covid vaccine. I've been healthy all my life until PMR but I have had reactions to vaccines as an adult. I worked in health care so got a yearly flu shot. I always got it on a Friday because about half the time I would feel ill for a couple of days and would rest on the weekend. After my flu shot in 2020 I felt ill for 5 days and spiked a fever at least once a day. It was not Covid. In April 2021 I got PMR. I've also had shingles twice, including in my 30's. Clearly something is a little off with my immune system. My advice is listen to your body as well as to generic medical recommendations.

Hi; I was diagnosed in January. Had our flu and Covid shots 2 weeks ago and will be getting the RSV tomorrow. Doc said wait 2 weeks after the flu and Covid shots. We are cruising next month for a week and I personally are glad to have the 3 shots on board my system.
Good luck, it is your decision to make.

Hi Everyone, I was diagnosed with PMR in May, 2023. Have had a very good response with Prednisone. I’m now at 7mg, tapering 1 mg per month. As far as vaccines go for me, my rheumatologist recommended spacing out the big three (RSV, Covid, flu) two weeks apart. In the past I had little or no reaction to vaccines so I was hoping that would still be the case. I have had RSV and Covid with no reaction except a sore arm. I guess the recommendation would be to know what has/has not worked in the past for you and gauge accordingly. PMR does makes our immune system more vulnerable so if you choose not to vaccine, wearing a mask may help. I for one will still mask in crowded places and on an airplane even though I am vaccinated. The newest variant is fairly preventative;ent in our area, and as I wish to go out, grocery shop, eat out once in a wile I decided to get that ne booster, the RSV vaccine and the flu shot. I separated each having 7-10 days between. I had no ill effects other than a very sore arm from the covid vaccine. It just seemed wise to no overwhelm my system with a bunch of stuff all at the same or nearly the same time. I agree about checking with your doctor, especially if you have a history of strong reactions to vaccination.
