Weight loss encouraged after joint replacement surgery
Looking to see if anyone has seen beneficial results from achieving weight loss post joint replacement. Did your doctor recommend/emphasize the need for losing weight post operatively?

Thank you for this information.
Do you need your other knee replaced? If so, do you think the weight you have managed to lose will benefit you for your other knee to be replaced?
Thank you! I actually did it because I was pre-diabetic and I commented to them when I went for the knee replacement I didn't need to lose anymore because I had lost the 65. I'd love to lose more but it's coming off very slowly and I can't be as active so I basically watch what I eat.
I have degenerative arthritis in my left knee also and it is bone on bone but I'm fortunate that I don't have any pain with it so don't really anticipate needing a knee replacement for the left knee. I do try to exercise my legs daily by riding a recumbent exercise bike and I'm sure that helps.
Yes he did I've had 2 dislocations and a puesdotumor that seems to be getting larger said would be harder to debreed and replace the ball which has only been in for a yr ! Anyone have any thoughts on this I was fat when he did the revision for a failed hip!
