Thanks Justin. I have reached the point that was predicted a few years ago, that eventually opiates lose their effectiveness the longer they are used. That is exactly where I am right now. I am going to do research for medical marijuana. Minnesota has approved it's use but I am not sure who to contact. The article I read said that your doctor will not prescribe it and it seems that you must be an "extreme" case to be able to get it. Thank you for this site.

I too went to Colorado to try medical Marijuana. I didn't realize that it put everything in violation of my pain contract, and I was lucky to be "allowed" to remain at the pain clinic. Make sure all your medical providers sign on for your experiment, or they may drop you as a patient. I feel sometimes like the medical profession is doing all it can to set up roadblocks to properly treat our chronic pain, as if we choose pain so that we can feed our habit of opiates. I am truly glad for you that your doctor is on board with you. I wish I could find similar support.Laurie Demit Rusin

What do you mean by violating your contract? Fid you go through a pain rehabilitation program?

Hi Everyone I'm Paul

Have posthepetic neurolgia for almost 3 yrs. Three months ago they implanted a spinal cord stimulator
in me which did take some pain away. I'm not being off fentanyl 75 mg down to 12 mg. Last
few weeks been getting night pain that drives me up a wall, usually goes away around 4 am.

Call my pain dr, he told me call the reps from Nevro well I need help now, he said no more meds for you.

I tried to change the program of the stimulator to no prevail ( I get More pain). Seems to me I'm a cash cow
for my pain dr, well I got another appt. with a new Dr this Saturday.

wish I didint have to take any meds but I need sleep, my family gave me something didnt work so Ill suffer till
Saturday.

This is my story I only hope they find a real cure for this and we all stop suffering.

When I was accepted into the pain clinic about 5 years ago, I signed a standard pain contract that I would take pain meds only as prescribed. I did not realize that using medical Marijuana in a state where it is legal was prohibited by the contract. As far as the pain clinic was concerned, my indiscretion was treated as if I tested positive for heroin or another illicit street drug. At the pain clinic I receive therapeutic injections, botox, biofeedback, acupuncture, and other treatments. They work closely with my headache specialist, neurologist, and primary care physician. I take extremely small amounts of oxycodone on a weekly basis, far less than what would make me comfortable on most days. I am adamantly opposed to stopping the oxycodone without some other effective way to control my pain. After 15 years we are still looking for alternative treatments that work. I feel I have proven through my actions that I am not addicted to the medication, nor am I at risk of addiction, after 15 years of limited, low-dose usage.Laurie Demit Rusin

They tried to push the spinal stimulator on me as well. I didn't like what I read in the disclaimer. My friend had one implanted and it took away about 50% of his back pain. He is "so so" on using it. I think Medtronic makes a good living on it as well as the doctor.

Think the Drs getting kickbacks they're to eager to use this machine, then hand you off to
the Reps. I have my Nevro almost 4 months

I believe your statement. When I was referred by my doctor to the pain clinic in Fargo, there was no other discussion other than the implant. No conversation about medications or a morphine pump that the same company manufactured. They were eager to attach the "trial" run on me, but I declined. You take care sir.

My name is Gail, I'm 68 years old, and i have lived my entire adult life with chronic back pain. I just had a back surgery (12/22/16) to cut off and remove the part of my L5-S1 disc that was pressing on my spinal column causing acute pain on my left side. It's good to have a forum for discussion.
