Artscaping,
I fear Fosamax because I have GERD. I did visit my longtime gastroenterologist yesterday to discuss this with him. He said that the only problem with Fosamax and GERD is if you don’t take it as directed and the pill becomes stuck going down. He also said that once the pill passes through your esophagus it is “clear sailing” and “home free.” I trust him, so will forge ahead with Fosamax when i finish Evenity. I have my 6th injections next week. I think the Evenity shots make me tired the next day, but other than that no problems.

I am so scared to go on bisphosphonates as I have significant TMJ with one disc totally eroded due to clenching. I wear a very expensive mouthguard nightly which helps but at 58 yrs old and needing a few crowns, filings replaced I dread the side effects of these drugs. My doc only mentioned it would help me alleviate risk of curvature, hunch back from letrozole estrogen depletion, etc. I'm only 8 months into Letrozole but know it will get worse. Maybe I can avoid curvature ?? She didn't mention anything related to bones mets. Any advice?

Hi there....thanks for getting back to me. Yes, there are specific directions that you need to follow. Take it first thing in the morning before anything else goes in your mouth. Then sit up straight for 30 minutes .....before you have breakfast.

You will be fine.

@susanfarlcon52-Though I have not started any meds yet , I will share with you in discussion with Dr. McCormick, because I mentioned that in the past I was bothered with GERD , he told me he would recommend Actinol instead of Fosamax after 2 years of Forteo. Maybe check that out. Good luck!!!
