Any Veterans have experience with Veterans Hospitals for Spine Care

I'm a 70 yr old retired military, marathon and distance runner and had sudden and "out of the blue" debilitating pain in lower back. Went to the VA did MRI to discover severe stenosis and collapsed disc L4/L5 bone to bone contact, bottom line I need surgery because my right leg is numb, can't drive auto with numb foot, can't sit for long times, and I'm living with moderate pain and I refuse to get surgery at Veterans Hospital in my area because I'm not impressed with the bios of the surgeons. Many hospitals I can research the doctors, surgeons, and their experience and find what appears to good competent expert spinal specialist, but they are all civilian hospitals and the VA will not pay for that surgery. I understand that there are VA hospitals that have competent specialist in spinal care and I may have to travel cross country. The real problem is finding that VA hospital. Bottom line is I'm looking for help finding that hospital.

We know a man who had a very successful surgery of his back at the VA hospital in Boston. Maybe you could check into that?
Good luck
