crickard70,
Have you been diagnosed with pancan?
You will need to provide some more specifics to this forum to obtain suitable and perhaps applicable comments.
I am a 2 1/2 year survivor of pancreatic cancer had the Whipple, chemo and radiation. Ca-19just came back after last bloodwork elevated higher than before treatments.Having mri of liver today and Thursday scope and ultrasound.I have right side dull pain all the time and have advanced to #10 pain. Now on oxy and gummies. I guess I need to know more from tests, but have read that pancreatic cancer goes to liver in final stages. I have had the testing through pancan for possible treatments. I have not recontacted them yet I am assuming the doctor will. Thank you open to any advice and nervous.
crickard70,
I am not a doctor nor medical professional, but my uneducated advice would be to seek chemo treatment as soon as possible.
Also, you don't say whether your previous medical procedures were at a center of excellence (ex: Mayo Rochester or MD Anderson Houston) - if they were not, I would advise you to immediately contact and get to whichever one is available soonest.
I had my surgery back in Mar 2020, my blood and urin tests were high (but Dr not overly concerned) ever since surgery so I was going in every 6 months for follow up, then they doubled and some tripled. Next scan showed 1 new tumor in my liver and several white spots but no radiotracer uptake yet. MRI confirmed small mass and I started Lanreotide (3 doses between scans). Just got my scan results back and now have several tumors in my liver right lobe only and a new one in what's left of my pancreas. All with radiotracer uptick of 4. I went from none to 4 within 5 months. I meet my oncologist on Thursday to discuss next options.
Good luck, isn’t it hard living with the anxiety? I am taking pain meds, gummies. But not much helps. How is your pain level
Recently found out that my pancreatic cancer has spread to the peritoneal.. surgery is no longer an option...meet with med oncology dr tomorrow…basically I will be asking what will be the plan and what are the expected results. What will the plan feel like. What choices do I have as to how I want to live the time I have left. I realize that reactions to tx vary a great deal. I have been helped sssoooo much by your stories, your journeys…thank you…mike
In checking for the best cancer hospital, I found M. D. Anderson in Houston, which is where I live, is No. 1 in certain cancers, but No. 19 for gastrointestinal cancers. Mayo Clinic is No. 1. If the need arose and you have the means to get there, I know that would be my first stop.
@michaelhunn7474 ,
Surgery might still be an option, but it depends on how much spread there is. You could ask about HIPEC surgery in general. You could also ask about a specific HIPEC trial going on at Mayo in Rochester with Dr. Mark Truty, Dr. Cornelius Thiels, and others. It might be this one, with Dr. Travis Grotz listed as the principal investigator: https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT04858009
I also have peritoneal mets, but was not accepted for this study.
There's another one starting up at MD Anderson that was primarily designed for ovarian cancer but is accepting pancreatic cancer patients. Both often get peritoneal mets. This one takes a tissue sample from one of your tumors, and trains some of your "NK" (natural killer) cells to attack it, and then injects those back into your peritoneum via a port. https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT05922930
There is also a trial pair underway called BASECAMP and EVEREST. These are based on training CAR T-cells to attack your specific tumor(s). You might qualify if your blood and tumors have certain properties. Mayo, Anderson, and many other big centers are participating in these:
BASECAMP-1: https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT04981119
EVEREST-1: https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT05736731
EVEREST-2: https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT06051695
There are others that depend on specific mutations you may have. Pancan.org and cancercommons.org are both very helpful resources when researching clinical trials.
Wishing you the best!

Great information ! I am registered with pan cam and they did my testing hopefully find out Friday my new journey
Thank you and good luck also
7474,
Have you been in chemo treatment, previously?
I am not a medical professional, but if you have not been in chemo, you have a decision to make - and should make it with the input of a center of excellence team that can advise you.
The best outcome would be relocate to the center immediately - start chemo immediately - again, at the center of excellence. If there was a delay to getting into the center of excellence, then start chemo immediately in your area.
