It's confusing because I had 1) genetic testing to rule out genes like BRCA, based on a blood draw; and 2) the post-op lab results showing clear margins and a clear sentinel lymph node. I thought I had skated on chemo and had no idea there was yet another lab test called oncotyping. So when an oncologist I had just met told me I needed chemo, I was stunned, as was my husband, who attended my appointments and thought the same thing I did.

I was in a similar situation. Didn’t think I needed chemo. Early stage breast cancer lymph nodes clear margins good. The octotype numbers came back and I was told I needed chemo radiation and screening every six months. It was a very difficult transition. Chemo was not great but I got through it and so will you.
