Can anything bad happen if I take one hit from a vape?
I am wondering If anything bad could happen if I take one or a few hits from a vape?

@mightyaman
Yes, if you're a former smoker, it could easily cause you to start smoking again. The same reason someone in AA should never take one sip of alcohol. It's not the one sip or one hit that matters, it's what happens next!
Hello @mightyman, I see you are a new member, welcome! I am not an expert in vaping, but I have used them before while trying to quite smoking. You don't have to look very hard to find that there is a lot of evidence that the chemicals used in vaping, aside from the highly addictive nicotine, or THC, such as flavorants and other chemicals are super harmful to the heart and lungs.
Nicotine, from what I have learned after I quit smoking, is quite possibly the most powerfully addictive substance on the planet and it is no wonder people become dependent.
I was a dedicated smoker for over 42 years and finally quit for good five years ago. Cold turkey. That's my story, and my question for you is why are you asking if anything bad can happen from taking "one or a few hits from a vape?" Are you thinking of trying it? Have you already tried it and are wondering if you harmed yourself?
I'm thinking of trying and was just wondering if any thing serious could happen for the first time
Ahh, ok. I would recommend that you do some research online about vaping and the dangers from it. It seems fairly clear from what I have read that there is no safe smoking of either cigarettes or e-cigarettes. What works for some, may not work for others as they search for an easy way to quit smoking. Nicotine is so very addictive, and cigarettes contain many dangerous chemicals in addition to the nicotine. Vaping has oily liquids in it's make up and can cause lipoid pneumonia and inflammatory lung issues. The risks seem to far outweigh the benefits involved in vaping. Vaping associated lung injury is a real consequence of inhaling the hot aerosol.
Are you trying to quit smoking, or just looking into vaping out of curiosity?
Yea mainly out of curiosity
hello, thanks for your comment. I have smoked on and off for 20 years, quite for 10 and back on now for another 10. I have every illness under the sun, mainly lupus kidney diseaase and a handful of other includeing hardening of the aorta abdominal artery and clogged thyroid arteries. When I found this out I was only smoking about 5 cigs a day but went down to 1 a day.
My partner almsot died about 4 months ago and still inc ritical condition, in major flare health not to goood right now, overwhelming stress, cut my anxiety of xanax back and anti-drpessant and quitting smoking my body went into withdrawals. Put down the smokes 3 weeks ago but substituting a vape in the meantime sparingly,. I know vape is not good either but it better than cigs right now. I know the vape is harmful as well but I feel I'm going in the right direction and eventually quit all. Thanks and have a good day.
Hi @wieczorkemaria, as a former smoker, I can totally relate to what you say. Stress is the number one trigger for a smoker to reach for a smoke. It almost like a reflex. Sadly, as soon as the smoke is over, the little lying cigarettes tell you you need another and so the cycle continues. There is no good time to quit...stress will always be part of life, and for me the thought of life without cigarettes was impossible to think of. Until I was able to conquer them and not let them rule me and my thoughts. Once I realized how nicotine worked, and how insidious they are, I was able to use that knowledge to overcome them. I did not want to live my life letting some little object control me. When I think of all the times I stood outside in the rain, hovering under an eve to smoke, or standing out in the hot sun to smoke, or being so anxious to get out the car, movie, wedding reception, church, TJ Maxx, work, school, basically you get it, right? When I think of all that I gave up for them, I am so grateful for the knowledge that I gained that helped me overcome them and get my life back! I hope the same for you as you work through your burdens and the cards you were dealt. Our thoughts are so powerful, and being able to turn them into positive thoughts, while at first may not work, but slowly over time, we can control them and even though it may not change our circumstances, it can change our attitude. And that's what can make all the difference. Best wishes to you...
Thank you. Same to you. Have a great day!
