HI Doris,

If you don't mind, would you tell us about some of the most memorable moments of your life?

My grandmother-- who would be older than you-- said that seeing an airplane for the first time was amazing. Everyone in her city neighborhood came running outside and climbed out on the roofs to see it. That would have been in the early 1920s.

I'm really happy that your health is on the upswing. What a blessing to have your daughter and son in law there with you.

I was born in 1936, the oldest of 7. I was in elementary school during WWII and clearly remember rationing , especially sugar! My mother would bake and mail cookies to her brother, who was in bombing raids over Italy and we would watch her package them. He later told us they were crumbs when they arrived, but still treasured!
My husband and I traveled all over the US in our tent, pop-up camper, then fifth wheel and finally small motor home for most of our nearly 60 year marriage. We saw a lot of this beautiful country for not much money! I began college at age of 39 and got my degree to teach at age of 43, after raising my two girls. I taught for 17 years and retired at 60 when my husband's health became precarious. We moved to the Ozarks in 1980 from suburbs of Memphis, TN and I taught at a small mountaintop school for 16 years. That's sort of a short version of my life so far! I've been a widow for 10 years now.
