Mayo Clinic in Minnesota has not yet performed a hand transplant surgery. We have evaluated dozens of candidates that we were able to help in other ways and ultimately did not move forward with the transplant. Hand transplant is not for everyone and our selection process helps us determine which patients are candidates for alternative treatments.
I have already met with the entire team numerous times. I am on the list,
but currently inactive due to a fall which caused me to break my hip.
My daughter and I were having a discussion/disagreement over whether Mayo
in Minnesota had performed a hand transplant. I do not believe they have,
yet she swears she read about 3 such operations.
I am a quad amputee since August 2014 and I am very excited about the
possibilities and completely committed. I can’t wait until I can become
active on the list.
Can you tell me if they have performed any that I am not aware of?
