Getting off Klonopin (clonazepam)
Would like information of others who have taken this medication. How long prescribed, how you got off this. Did you have side effects following. Any & all information is greatly appreciated.

You are correct about mostly older physicians being the culprits lol. My young guy couldn't believe it when I told him sleep doc. prescribed this. And the sleep doc. obviously had no clue of what he was handing out. I developed bad tremors and body buzzing 6 weeks or so into taking this med at only .5 mg per day. He was clueless when I told him and just stopped taking it cold turkey after 7 months. Withdrawal was noticeable for months after. Went to a neurolgist as the tremors were alarming and just wanted to be certain something else wasn't going on. He found nothing but also said klonopin was a drug I should have never been prescribed, in his opinion. Told me to stay away from physicians. Thought he was kidding but then realized he wasn't!

2 ReactionsBe careful about websites like webmd. Stick with reputable facilities like Mayo Clinic.
I was on .5 Ativan, a benzo like klonopin, for over two years. I did I VERY slow wean and have been off it since June. All my doctors, including the one who prescribed it, wanted me off of it.

3 ReactionsHi, @annako , you mentioned Holy Basil leaf. It's a nice plant. My aunt is growing some and it makes a nice tea. It looks like mint and smells like basil.

1 ReactionYes,I know it should be very slow withdrawal but the doctor really confused me by saying quit after 2 weeks… I extended it to 4 weeks and now I question myself and don’t know what to do. Last 5 weeks were very hard and I am not sure if I did it right.
I don’t want to take it anymore but I have hard time. One of the side effects of Klonopin withdrawal is higher blood pressure. I am on medication for BP and it was under control but in last few days seems to be higher and I don’t know what should I do.

2 ReactionsThis is common situation… Doctors had good intentions but there is very high price to pay.
I had no clue what it will be stop taking it.
The doctor who asked me to stop taking it after last 2 weeks did not tell me about withdrawal symptoms.
