Gallbladder removal: Anyone still having complications?
After having my gallbladder removed 14 yrs. ago, I still have issues with digesting anything with fat. Combine that with IBS and you're in real trouble. I'm trying to put weight on while the majority of people are trying to take it off. That of course brings it's own stress and as we all know that's the worst thing for any health issue. I am currently on a anti biotic and am being balanced off with a probiotic. Seems to be helping my stomach and the diarrhea associated with IBS. This is the first thing that has made me feel normal after seeing multiple gastroenterologists with no positive results. Is anyone familiar with Lypo Gold. It's an enzyme that is suppose to help aid with fat digestion. Just wondering what input anyone has on how it works and their results from taking it. Thank you.

I had a laparoscopic procedure to remove my gall bladder on June 15, 2023. I noticed a couple days after the procedure there was swelling of my abdomen about 2-3 inches to the left of my belly button and am wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue?
Hi,
No, I didn't get that.
Maybe you should call the doctor?
Good luck! 🙂
I am a 76 year old female, had gallbladder removed 18 months ago and since I have had bad squeezing pain in my right upper quadrant, 15-30 minutes after I eat or drink anything It gets worse later in the day. Sitting or driving makes it worse. My late in day it spreads to my whole abdominal area.
Have been to 3 gastro doctors and no one can figure out what is happening. SOD was brought up, but doctor said he did not treat. Have no nausea, no vomiting, no fever, no chills, no swelling. I have had the following tests and all were normal:Colonoscopy,Hida scan, MRI w/contrast, CT, EDG, Blood, H Pylori, CT with contrast, Bariu,Swallow of small intestine, Angiography and ultra sound of pancreas.
Any ideas for my next step.
I am a 33yo F. I had my gallbladder removed four months ago after losing 30lbs (I was originally 148lbs) in a month and a half. I couldn’t eat without pain under my right rib and nausea. I was in and out of the ER for weeks. No imaging or labs or tests showed that it needed to come out. The surgical team left it up to me to decide if I wanted it out or not. I was so sick I decided to have them remove it. They removed it laparoscopically. The pathology showed chronic inflammation. My recovery was absolutely brutal and now, four months post-op, I’m still having pain in the surgical site and feel unwell. I’m getting nausea, bloating, and a burning internal sensation under my right rib, in the gallbladder site that radiates around to my back. Ice packs on my abdomen helps, and a short course of low dose prednisone seemed to help as well. I’ve been to GI and Rheumatology and no one seems to know whats wrong or how to help me. I have Hashimoto’s, autoimmune inner ear disease, and PCOS. I had Covid three months before my first symptom. Symptoms seem worse when I’m on my period, and in the evenings. I was tachycardic for three months after surgery. Has anyone experienced some thing similar to this?

It sounds as if you have numerous health issues, and the gallbladder surgery added another group of symptoms. As you mentioned, autoimmune disorders, perhaps you will find the following discussion helpful as well.

As you did not mention the type of surgery you had, I'm wondering if it was an invasive surgery or was it laparoscopic?
@angdickinson Did you lose all of that weight from being sick with covid?
@jb112073 I guess it sounds like it doesn't matter what you eat or drink, anything and everything sets it off?
I had a laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
When I had Covid in February, I lost about 10lbs but gained them back as I recovered. The 30lbs I lost started in April and progressed through May. I only started to gain that weight back about a month after my surgery in June.
