I can tell you my experience; whether it is an indicator for you is up to you and your docs.
Similar age a few years ago, early 70's. Had BPH and took both tamsulosin and dutasteride for it.
My PSA ran about 1 or a little more. Then it started to rise until it got to 5 over about 4 months time. There was no consideration of stopping dutasteride and I'm glad for that.
We moved right to a biopsy that showed an aggressive form of PC on one side. Had prostatectomy 2-months later and it had already crossed the margin and I have a cancer spot on a rib though very small.
For me this PC started fast and got away in spite of fairly quick action. Androgen therapy has arrested it so I'm ok for now and foreseeable future.
It's your call along with your docs. Getting the facts is always important.

How are things now? I read your note and I to have seen a spike from 1.5 to 5.1 in three months. I am very concerned by this huge jump.
