Drug Options when Revlimid causes a rash?

Posted by tristram @tristram, Sep 6, 2023

I was on 10 mgs of Revlimid until it caused a rash. Blood numbers were dramatically going down. Five mgs caused a rash as well. My doctor will go to 2 1/2 mgs to see if my body can grow accustomed to Revlimid in my system. Blood numbers are now going up quickly. If not Revlimid, what other options are out there?

@tristram A very common side effect of Revlimid is indeed the rash. I have been on 5mg and get it.

I think your hematologist oncologist is the best person to answer your question. There are many variables to take into consideration, to figure options. The type of multiple myeloma you have, high risk or standard risk, what other co-morbidities might be, current treatment regimen, etc. Your medical team has your best interest.

What blood numbers are going up?

@tristram, did you find a new treatment option? Or has slowly increasing Revlimid from a lose dose worked for you?

@tristram I am hoping you already have a new plan in place, but I want you to rest assured there are quite a few tools in the box to treat myeloma. My husband who has been diagnosed since early 2010 has been on several. Some are easier than others for sure. Velcade required us to travel 150 miles weekly for the injection. Ninlaro comes from the same pharmacy as revlomid but with a lot less hoops to jump through, and it is only 3 pills per month.
If you have never looked at IMF website, they have an educational page about the new treatments out there, this is just a sampling.
Here is the website.

May I ask when you were diagnosed? Is this your first treatment?

I was dianosed in November with high-risk MM. This is my first round of treatments. I'll check out that website. Thanks!

I meet with my doctor next Thursday to find out what comes next. I hope I can go back on Revlimid because my numbers were dramatically better. KAPPA Free light chains went from 1,269 to 135 and IgA went from 2,305 to 321 after three months. Then I had to stop.
