Fever of unknown origin, went home an Last Sunday and am back in the hospital with the same thing 7 days later. Waiting on blood cultures and getting Iv antibiotics.

Hello, so sorry to hear about all you are dealing with! I had pretty severe chemo sores in my mouth, gums and throat. Was using Dexamethezone Elizor (mouth rinse) and Magic Mouthwash. Was making it more bearable but not going away.

Nurse and oncologist said “yes unfortunately that happens with chemo” and the only option they gave me was to reduce the chemo dose which I did not want to do.

After doing some research on my own, I found a topical gel that can go inside the mouth or on the lips. It froze the area and took away the pain for several hours and within a week healed some Of The worst sores for the first time in months.

I shared that with my oncology team, and now they are telling all the other patients in chemo, who are saying it’s been a lifesaver for them.

It is called Zilactin B and is available at the pharmacy here in Montreal where the ointments are for cold sores and teething but this is not for cold sores.
