Where do you want to grow old?
People have many options for living arrangements as an older adult, like living in a house with a group of friends (think Golden Girls), going to a 55+ community, or staying in your own house.
What are your plans? Where do you want to grow old?
or
What choice did you make? What are the the pros and cons of your arrangement?
What advice do you have for others?

Yes, a bit far! Chapala was lovely when we bought there, we sat up on a mountain and had a splendid view. I have friends who moved back to the US recently, the banditos ran them out, they did not feel safe, seems to be a lot of break-ins and drug issues.
We moved to deep south TX, the Rio Grande Valley. It is reported to be the cheapest place to live in the US. So many senior citizens who came as Winter Texans (yes we love Winter Texans here) have moved here permanently. With so many seniors, there is every specialist and medical facility you can think of and lots of senior activities as so many of us have moved here for the above reasons.
We thoroughly enjoy living way down here.
Wishing you all the best...also maybe there is a library near or a choir to join that community volunteer drivers could take you to...wishing you good health.
Keep me updated on how you're doing if you would like. For some reason, no one wants to volunteer. I do have a nurse coming in every 2 weeks.
You never know!
I've lived in SoCal, Oregon, Michigan's U.P. and now, Arizona.
I just want to return to Oregon's Rogue Valley. It's where my tribe is. I thrive amongst the trees and forest. I see beauty there, everywhere I look. I feel stronger and more authentic in the forest. Just a small trailer or cabin in the wild, with my dog and a garden (maybe some chickens) and I'm content. I will return. I have friends waiting. There's a foraging group to join up with. It's my happy place.
Define your comfort zones and the ones you are not comfortable with and then assess your choices. Look at it, as planning a trip. What do you want to see and experience and do. What does not work anymore and what does. Are you a retreater or adventurer. And how are you at making adjustments and changes. Know yourself if possible before making changes.
For me, where=In the arms of a loving Savior. I trust He will place me in the best location, with an inspired purpose.
My reply more in the zone of thoughts here is similar: one level, proximate to a fruitful supportive social life, and a secure and scenic space.

Lol! I moved to Arizona from Michigan. You describe it to a T! I do enjoy walking or hiking every day of the year though. I’m no longer very steady on my feet when I walk on snow or ice, so I tolerate the heat and ignore the flag waving pickup trucks on the roads.
I haven’t gone to Mexico for lunch, but really enjoy all the amazing Mexican restaurants in Tucson!
I grew up in CT and enjoyed living for years in VT and NH. I have thought of returning, but the very high property taxes and real estate are discouraging. I have friends in those states but they all head to FL in the winter!
