CREON..Pancreatic enzyme supplement cost
If you’re using CREON, has anyone chef the difference in prices from CVS retail and CVC mail order? I paid $190 for a one month supply (90 capsules) on my first order my local CVS. At my Mayo session yesterday, the nurse ordered my refill but used the Mayo pharmacy, which uses CVS mail order. I was shocked at the price difference… for a 3 month supply (270 capsules), the price was $90!!! Don’t know why the big cost difference, but hope this is real when delivered.
Has anyone had this experience?

@altc321, were able to find out anything more about the big price difference between CVS retail and CVC mail order? Did it have to do with Mayo Clinic pharmacy ordering it?
Have you looked into Abbvie Assist? Mayo Pharmacy suggested it for me and I get Creon, 300 capsules a month for free. You have to apply every year but it is easy to apply. Go to Abbvie online and ask for an application. I filled it in, took a phone photo of my income tax return and sent in. I don’t think it was more than a couple of weeks until I was approved. Now I call for a refill each month and they arrive at my home. It’s worth a try.
I finally found out my insurance plan (BCBS FEP 106) has retail and mail order different coverage. Retail (direct from CVS pharmacy) allows 15% discount on this prescription (Ceron) and $90 co-pay for mail order. The mail order prescription ordered by Mayo (Ceron) was out of stock at CVS Caremark and they contacted my Doctor for a replacement which he made (ZENPEP). This was in stock and cost $90 (co-pay) for 67 day supply (200 capsules)…. much cheaper than retail which I initially payed $190 for 90 capsules (one month)
I suggest everyone check their insurance coverage especially mail order prices….they are much cheaper!
Hope this helps.
Also, go directly to Abvie. A lot of times they will give to you for free!
Thank you… do you need to be in a certain income group? Does your oncologist have to verify your need for this enzyme?
No I was paying $240 for my cre meds and my doctor switched my prescription and I still pay $140
CVS charge us $635 for 120 capsules, we are in CA. I wonder why the price is so high
If you go to the Creon website, there is a link for co-pay assistance. I think there is a yearly max they will pay, but I currently pay $0
Thank you, we have tried that, apparently our income is slightly above the limit. We now purchase from Canada and save a substantial amount on our purchase.
Can you share pharmacy? And do you get perscription directly from your doctor?
