Forgot to take your Pred?
Several times I have started to take my 4mls of Pred and noticed that the day before pills were still in my pill organizer, which is panic inducing. I bump up a mil for a few days to try to avoid a severe flare. Anyone else had this experience?

@southtexas I have forgotten to take other meds but never the prednisone when my PMR was active. Mr Ugly always reminded me to take it in the mornings 🙂 There were a few times when I was almost off of prednisone that it would have been easy to forget taking my morning dose. Here's some information from Mayo Clinic on your question:
"If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double doses."

Thinking that may be a good sign if you forgot to take a days dose and you weren't in a lot of pain. How is your pain level after you forgot to take a dose?
Thanks John, I didn’t have much more pain than usual until the day after I missed the dose.
Yeah, I forgot once. Won't do that again. 😐
I did try to not take the .5mg of the 11.5mg I'm on but within a few hours ooh boy. Two weeks was not enough time to taper down. I can't imagine missing an entire day and not noticing. Could it be time to lower your dose a bit?
For some time, at least a couple months, I have forgotten to take the prednisone on time, but realizing within a few hours, and take it then. I attribute the forgetting as a very good sign as I am feeling back to normal.
My doctor checks my sediment and C reactive proteins once a month which determines whether I need to increase the prednisone by 1mg.
I never do the lowering or raising on my own as I am not a physician. Only my doctor can determine that through blood tests.
I also am one that is not affected on the occasional time I forget my dosage. Yet, I need to keep on the same dosage until I discuss it with my doctor as although I am not affected by the miss, if I lower my dose, on my own, my PMR can flare up.
My doctor has me lower my dose by 1mg but I've found it can be to much and I let him know.
It really boils down to me knowing my body better than my doctor. If it were up to him, I'd be down to 10mg by now. Nope, I'm taking it slow.
Thank you.
I do as well . My doctor is able to check the sediment
and C-reactive protein. He does not tell me to up or lower the dosage. We do that together. He consults a rheumatologist each time as well.
I am not sure about your doctor but mine tells me to pay attention to my body changes with my PMR
He has discovered several serious conditions, which he has helped me with. He orders MRIs, CT scans and I have blood tests every month.
I have complete faith in him. We are a team. On Thursday, he is making a home visit because he wants to see me as soon as possible.
